WHO WE ARE

Community Action is a not-for-profit (PBI) community organisation based in Gympie (Qld) with registered charity and deductible gift recipient (DGR) status. We are a registered community housing provider with a mission to provide housing and support services in response to the needs of our community.

Our services include community housing, support services and accommodation for young people, support services and accommodation for women and children experiencing domestic and family violence, financial counselling and multicultural services.

OUR SERVICES

Domestic and Family Violence Services

Support for women and children who are surviving domestic and family violence and abuse.

Housing Service

Community Action Housing Service manages a broad range of tenancies through four Community Housing Programs, Gympie Regional Council Pensioner Units and Community Action Transitional Properties.

Youth Service

Community Action Youth Service delivers a range of programs that aim to reduce homelessness and respond to the health and well-being needs of vulnerable young people aged 12-25 within the Gympie Region.

Multicultural Information Network Service

Community Action Multicultural Information Network Service (MINS) is a migrant settlement service operating in the Gympie region and providing outreach to Noosa.

Financial Literacy and Resilience Program

A free financial counselling and money management service to help people learn about managing debts, budgeting assistance and advocacy. We also provide Financial Literacy workshops for free.

Emergency Relief

Financial and material aid for people experiencing financial crisis.

COVID-19:  The health and wellbeing of our clients, visitors, contractors and employees is of paramount importance to our organisation.  We have taken steps to comply with government regulations and minimise wherever possible any impacts on our clients, our services and operations. 

Most services are operating as usual from our office sites with social distancing and health and hygiene practices in place.  Alternative service delivery methods are available for people who prefer not to visit the office eg. via phone.  Please talk with our staff to arrange a method of service delivery that best suits your circumstances.

Acknowledgement of Funding / Partnerships

Community Action receives both Commonwealth and State Government funding. Community Action has an established partnership with the Gympie Regional Council regarding the management of a Pensioner Unit Program
